China is leading the race in the new energy vehicle (NEV) sector, and the rapid development of NEVs has raised higher demands for supporting technologies. As one of the most critical components, energy-saving films for new energy vehicles are at the forefront of these requirements.
Why are energy-saving films specifically designed for new energy vehicles more effective than regular window films?
Special window film for new energy vehicles has strong heat insulation, effectively reducing the burden of air conditioning and indirectly increasing battery life.
The glass area of pure electric vehicles is larger and directly exposed to sunlight, especially during hot summer days when the temperature inside the car can exceed 50°C. This requires the air conditioning to operate at lower temperatures and higher fan speeds, increasing energy consumption. Traditional fuel vehicle window films focus more on blocking ultraviolet (UV) rays to prevent skin aging and darkening. However, sunlight is composed of 7% UV rays, 43% infrared (IR) rays, and 50% visible light. The heat we feel is primarily caused by the infrared rays in sunlight. Energy-saving films specifically designed for new energy vehicles offer better infrared blocking performance. Compared to regular window films, they feature a more complex multi-layer optical design. The more times light is refracted, the fewer infrared rays enter the car, making the temperature inside the car is not easy to rise. Additionally, these specialized films have higher requirements for UV blocking, achieving full-band absorption below 400nm. This is the main reason why energy-saving films for new energy vehicles are more heat-insulating than regular window films.
Deltachem has launched a dedicated additive for new energy vehicle energy-saving films that can efficiently block full-spectrum ultraviolet rays, significantly enhancing the blocking effect and service life of new energy vehicle energy-saving films. In terms of UV blocking, it has improved the blocking efficiency by over 20% compared to ordinary UV absorbers, receiving high praise from a wide range of energy-saving film customers, and has already been used in several high-end energy-saving films on the market.
