In this article we evaluate three different UV absorbers. They all have advantages and associated characteristics. First an introduction of the UV absorbers:

OMNISTAB UV 1577 TF is a toluene free hydroxyphenyl triazine UV absorber. Exhibits very low volatility and good compatibility with a variety of polymers. Allows polycarbonates and polyesters to achieve a higher resistance to weathering than conventional benzotriazole UV absorbers.

OMNISTAB UV 3030 is a very low volatile ultraviolet light absorber (UVA) of the cyanoacrylate class, imparting excellent light stability to engineering polymers. Features maximal thermal stability and no inherent color. It can be used to stabilize highly transparent polymers with high extrusion temperatures.

OMNISTAB UV 1577 TF is a hydroxy-benzotriazine UV-absorber active both in UV-B and UV-A regions. It shows very good results in PET photo-stabilization. Can be used for PC but less recommended than UV 3030 as sometimes blooming and build up phenomena were observed during production of PC transparent sheets. Can be used for photo-stabilization of ABS plastics and other engineered plastics as well. More effective than hydroxy-triazole UV absorbers like Omnistab UV 329. Can be recommended for 20 year stability of PET sheets. Less effective than Omnistab UV 1600 (this product is currently in development), meaning requires higher concentration to get the same photo-stabilizing effect.

OMNISTAB UV 3030 is Cyano-acrylate type UV absorbers active mostly in UV-B region. It is very effective for stabilization of polycarbonate (PC). Stable at processing temperatures of PC (some 300C) without blooming and build up phenomenon on conditions together with Omnistab UV 1600.

 

OMNISTAB UV 3030是一种氰基丙烯酸酯型紫外吸收剂,主要在B类紫外线中作用明显。它对聚碳酸酯(PC)的稳定有很好的效果。在PC加工温度(300℃)下作用稳定,模具设备上不会出现起膜和堆积现象。可被推荐用于在户外条件和与OMNISTAB UV 1600配合使用条件下,可以持续使用20年的PC材料。

 

OMNISTAB UV 3638 is a Benzoxazine type UV-absorber with strong absorption in UV-A region and less absorption in UV-B region. Effective in photo-stabilization of PET but of less extent than UV 1577. It possesses high thermal stability. Can be used in different Engineered polymers. Can be recommended for less durable products, e.g. 10 years lasting.

 

OMNISTAB UV 3638是一种A类紫外线吸收率高、B类紫外线吸收率低的苯并恶嗪型紫外线吸收剂。对PET的光稳定效果好,但比UV 1577的光稳定效果差,具有较高的热稳定性,可用于不同的工程聚合物。可推荐用于耐用性差的产品,使产品耐用性达到10年左右。
