Polyurethane foam plastic is a porous material composed of a large number of micro pores resin, and also called "PU foam". Polyurethane foam plastics account for more than 50% in the total amount of PU products, which is the most important variety.

Compared with other foam materials, PU foam plastic has lots of characteristics in performance. Besides low density, it also has the characteristics of odorless, open hole type, high thermal insulation, foam uniformity, aging resistance and organic solvent resistance. It has strong adhesion to different materials such as metal, wood, glass, brick, fiber etc.,these properties are far superior to other foams. So it is widely used in furniture mat, mattress, vehicle cushion, fabric composite products, packaging materials and damping materials.

According to the hard degree of PU foam plastics, it can be divided into soft PU foam plastics (also callled soft PU foam), rigid PU foam plastics(also callled rigid polyurethane foam) and semi rigid PU foam plastics whose hard degree is between them.

² Polyurethane low density rigid foam is mostly brittle material. Most rigid PU foams are closed pore structure, which are foamed with low thermal conductivity blowing agent, so they are widely used in various fields of thermal insulation. High density hard foam has good tenacity and high strength.

² Polyurethane semi-rigid foam has a partial structure with open hole , which has good  vibration absorption performance. Therefore, It is widely used in cushioning materials, automotive parts etc..

² Polyurethane soft foam, commonly known as PU foam, is mainly used in various kinds of cushioning materials, such as cushions, handrails, mattresses, clothing liners and so on.

PU soft foam is an ideal material for making furniture cushions and vehicle’s seats. At present, the cushion of most seats and sofas are made of PU soft foam. This is also the area where the amount of PU soft foam is the largest.

In addition, PU soft foam has good air permeability, and is also suitable for making mattresses. For example, the mattresses called "Simmons" in China are most made of PU foam sheets, springs and fabrics. The softness of these mattresses depends on the ratio of polyurethane foam to different hardness and density.

Ø Series of antioxidants for PU:

OMNISTAB AN 1135: A liquid hindered phenol antioxidant, especially in the field of PU. It has excellent antioxidant properties, which can prevent polyether polyols from generating peroxide during storage, inhibit yellowing, and prevent core burning during polyurethane foaming. AN1135 can greatly improve the yellowing resistance level of PU material, such as shoe materials, artificial leather and elastomer.

OMNISTAB AN 5057: A liquid hindered amine antioxidant, for polyurethane foam’ stabilization aspect, can effectively inhibit peroxide formation in storage and transportation, further prevent the burning phenomenon in the forming. In the automobile manufacturing, furniture and fiber fabric industries using soft foamed polyurethane, the low volatility of OMNISTAB AN 5057 can avoid color pollution to the fabric.

OMNISTAB AN6133 &AN6136: These belong to a new generation of phenol free phosphite antioxidants, without phenol, nonylphenol, other free phenolic substances. It has the advantages of low volatility and good heat resistance, and can effectively inhibit the yellowing of PU materials caused by phenolic compounds.
