For all kinds of transparent plates and membrane plastics like this, how to improve the weather resistance and yellow resistance of materials on the basis of maintaining high light transmittance has been the difficulty of modification for many years by various manufacturers.
OMNISTAB UV988 is a high absorption UV absorber developed for the above transparent polymer materials. It can effectively absorb the most sensitive UV band of PC/PET/PMMA material - UVB, reduce UV damage to the substrate, so that the material can deal with a variety of weather, long-term use can still maintain good optical properties and physical properties. In addition, it can prolong the service life of solar plate and membrane material to achieve the purpose of aging resistance.

UV988 is a unique benzene-dimethylene UV absorber with extremely high molar extinction coefficient and excellent absorption performance, especially in the UVB range (low wavelength). Its chemical structure allows it to absorb high-energy ultraviolet light, which can delay yellowing or discoloration, even in harsh climatic conditions.

It can be clearly seen from the figure above that the absorption peak of UV988 well covers the UV sensitive band of PC/PET/PMMA, thus providing effective UV protection.
UV988 product itself is colorless, it will not affect the color of the resin even in the high concentration, and will not due to metal ion complexation and the formation of colored complex.
After adding UV988 and other types of UV absorber, PC transparent sheet was heat-treated at 80℃ for 274 days, as shown in the following figure, it can be clearly seen that UV988 has excellent aging resistance and yellowing resistance:
OMNISTAB UV988 is suitable for all kinds of transparent plastics, such as PC, PET, PMMA, transparent PA, TPU and other transparent materials. It is recommended to add about 0.50-1.00% according to the thickness of the film. UV988 has good compatibility with most polymer materials, and can also be used in PVC and PS materials which have high absorption requirements for UVB band.
