As is known to all, light stabilizers are essential modifiers for polymer materials, which could absorb ultraviolet energy and delay the photoaging of polymer material.Thus it can greatly prolong the service life of products. Nowadays, light stabilizers are indispensable components in many fields, such as the agricultural plastic film, military equipment, organic glass, building materials, light resistant coatings, medical plastic, synthetic fiber, industrial packaging materials, rubber products etc.


According to the action mechanism, light stabilizers can be classified into 4 categories:

Light blocking agents (also called light blocking agents)

Hindered amine light stabilizers (HALS)


At present, the fastest developing light stabilizer is HALS. Due to the ability of HALS to capture free radicals and decompose peroxide, its stabilizing effect is 2-4 times higher than that of UV absorber.

Studies show that LS2020 has better thermal stability and lower volatility than most previous commercial HALS products. And LS2020 has better compatibility with most of polymer material. This is because LS2020 has a large molecular structure, and its molecular weight is generally controlled at 2600-3400, which is much higher than conventional types.

The molecular weight distribution of OMNISTAB® LS 2020 is very narrow, polydispersity index is less than 1.5, which is very powerful to ensure the final product performance and lasting stability in the process of processing and application of products. The transmittance of OMNISTAB® LS 2020 at 425nm is greater than 92%, and light stability effect is 2~4 times of traditional absorption light stabilizer.

OMNISTAB® LS 2020 has good compatibility with many polymer materials,such as polyolefin, olefin copolymer, polyacetal, polyamide, polyurethane, soft/hard PVC product, PS and special adhesives, etc.

In addition, it is as non-toxic as other HALS (such as LS622, UV3346) which has been approved by the FDA and can be directly used in food packaging materials.

It is worth mentioning that compared with other stabilizers, the products using LS2020 have very low odor, so it can be applied to systems with low odor requirements, such as air conditioning housing, household appliance housing, Automotive interior plastics and other fields.

OMNISTAB® LS 2020 combines the benefits of a variety of high molecular weight HALS : Not only does it provide higher photo/ thermal stability for the polymer, but it also has additional advantages (e.g. less color interference, improved melt flow rate control).
