Polyurethane (PU) is widely used in construction, automotive, home appliances, and footwear due to its excellent wear resistance, elasticity, and processability. However, yellowing is a common issue during production and use. It can be caused by thermal oxidation at high temperatures, exposure to nitrogen oxides (NOx) in the air, or UV radiation. The chemical structure of PU – containing both easily oxidized amino groups and UVsensitive unsaturated bonds – makes it particularly prone to discoloration.

OMNISTAB® HN130 is an aminebased antiyellowing agent designed to solve this problem. Its unique bisaminourea structure selectively captures NOx and converts them into stable compounds, preventing surface yellowing during processing. At the same time, its active groups trap free radicals generated by thermal oxidation, stopping the chain reaction and reducing the formation of colored degradation products.

 

OMNISTAB® HN130 is specially developed for PU systems and is widely used in PU profiles, shoe materials, plastics, and especially in spandex (elastic fiber) production – either added during manufacturing or used as a finishing agent. It is also applicable to polyamide and polyethylene glycol systems.
