Strike action in ports of India

It is reported that India began the national dock workers indefinite strike action from April 19th. The Wharf Union has sent 15 days of strike notice to the port authorities. The campaign covers a very wide range, including a number of major ports in the south such as Calcutta, Bala Deeb, Mumbai, and accounting for about 70% of the total container trade in China.

According to the requirement of India customs, the exporter need to submit the certificate of abandonment of the goods provided by the importer, and the relevant documents for delivery of the goods at first, and then they can go through the refund formalities. If the importer is not willing to provide the certificate of abandonment of the goods to the exporter, the exporter have to submit other documents to go through the  refund formalities, including the letters of importer refuse to pay or take delivery, letters of the importer doesn't pay the bill of lading provided by the bank or ship agent.

This procedures are very complicated and take a long time, and cause touch the procedures of India customs auction port stranded cargo. If the importer does not apply for an extension, the goods may be auctioned or jettison. Therefore, the port strike may cause the risk of the buyer refuse to accept the goods.

Since Modi India's prime minister taking office in 2014, all kinds of reforms were vigorously promoted, India economic trends have improved. But analysts pointed out that due to some of the reforms are too radical, which have a negative impact on India's economic and social.
