After long-term exposure to ultraviolet ray, it will cause the autoxidation of polymer materials, which will lead to the degradation of polymer, make the products become discolored, brittle and performance reduction, so as to lose its using value, this process is called Photooxidative aging. Therefore, UV absorber and other stabilizers have become the essential additive in the polymer material used outdoors, for example in agricultural plastic film, building materials, coatings, synthetic fiber, industrial packaging materials, plastic rubber products and other fields.
Quenching agent is a kind of substance that can quickly and effectively quenched excited state molecules (singlet oxygen and triplet substance)through intermolecular energy transfer, so that they can converted into heat energy or into a fluorescence or phosphoresence, and radiation loss, return to the ground state. Through this process, quenching agent can protect it from UV damage, so as to stabilize polymer materials. Most of quenching agents are metal complexes, such as divalent nickel complex. It is often used with UV absorber, playing a synergistic effect. Thus, it is different from UV absorbers (which do not strongly absorb UV rays) and acts differently from UV absorbers (which transfer energy through intramolecular structural changes), such as UV1084, an nickel organic compound commonly used .
OMNISTAB UV1084 is also known as 2,2-thiophenol (4-tert-octyl phenol) n-butylamine nickel salt or (1-butyl amine) [[2,2-(sulfur-KS)2[4-(methyl butyl,1,3,3, 1-4) phenol root close - KO]] (2 -)] nickel.
OMNISTAB UV 1084 is mainly used in PE film and agricultural film. It has high pesticide resistance and acid resistance, and is widely used in polypropylene, polyethylene fiber, artificial lawn and other fields. UV 1084 has a small staining property, and chelates polyolefin dyes, so that it can improve dyeing properties. It has low toxicity and less skin irritation. Besides, it is especially suitable for products often used at high temperatures or subjected to long-term sun exposure. OMNISTAB UV 1084 also works well with other forms of stabilizers, especially UV absorbers (e.g. UV531). It has strong compatibility with polyolefin products. It has extremely high stability when used on PE agricultural film and PP artificial lawn.
In addition, in PVC film, UV 1084 is often used with DHT together. DHT is a kind of halogen purifying agent which often used in polymer processing. It could effectively absorb HCl generated by decomposition of PVC to immobilize halogens. Moreover, DHT has a low water content and a similar refractive index to olefin, so it is a very suitable halogen purifying agent for transparent olefin films. When UV 1084 is used with DHT, a long-term climate resistance will be produced.
